Recommended Stand Placement

Powerboat

  • Use blocking to support keel both fore and aft.
  • Use minimum of 2 sets of blocks plus an additional set for every 10; of boat length over 20.
  • Use minimum of 4 stands per boat.
  • If the ground is soft, use suitable dunnage under stand in order to get full contact.
  • Stands should be placed close to outboard corners with the adjusting screws as perpendicular to the hull as possible.
  • Place stands with point of triangle faced away from center of boat - permits placing dunnage under tip of stand base to conform pad to hull.
  • To position against hull - hold the screw with one hand, raise screw with pad on it to the bottom of the boat, spin the nut with other hand and continue to tighten until desired tension is realized.

Sailboat
  • Use blocking to support keel both fore and aft.
  • Use safety chains on all boat stands - run under hull starboard to port and bolt to screw pads. Use quarter inch chain and 5/16 bolts.
  • Always place a fifth stand with v-pad under the bow.
  • Add extra stand in windy areas if mast is up (or remove mast).
  • Keep stand so pad is even with waterline.
  • Place a pair of stand for each 8' of boat length - 5 stand for 30' and under, 7 for 36', etc.
  • Stands should be placed close to outboard corners with the adjusting screws as perpendicular to the hull as possible.
  • Place stands so that the point formed by the two long sides is facing toward the center of the boat.
  • To position against hull - hold the screw with one hand, raise screw with pad on it to the bottom of the boat, spin the nut with the other hand and continue to tighten until desired tension is realized.
